No one but Anet knows how the level progression will happen. And they don't even quite know yet.

Stats could be scalable up to 100+ or it could be just scalable up to 50.

Save the doom and gloom for solid details.

personally i expect to see higher numbers than the current guildwars, in hp, attributes and whatnot, but i dont expect them to get too high.

i think the lvl cap shouldnt be too high, 100 seems extreme to me. ive never liked the idea of really high levels so if there are huge numbers i would want a cap on stat increase by lvl 40-60.

big numbers can be fun, but there is a limit to player tolerance, super high levels subtract from their casual player base. i know i wouldn't enjoy it as much as i enjoy guildwars now if i had to be on at least 5 hours a day every day for 2-3+ months to get the max lvl.

Has anyone noticed that the two big complaints about GW2 don't make any sense together?

They are:

1) Oh nos! High levels means grind. I'm outta here!

2) Oh nos! I can't take my 3 sets of FOW armor and 13 crystalline swords with me. I'm outta here!

Umm. If you hate the grind so much, exactly how did you get your Uber armor and weapons?????

Waking up the next day, well rested and healed, they wander outside where they are brutally slaughtered by a passing wolf (who had level scaled while my char slept).
Agreed completely. I was absolutely enthralled with Oblivion until I discovered the entire world auto-levelled right with me. Some people may disagree, but without interesting advancement, the gameplay alone for most RPGs are just not interesting enough to hold my attention (for GW, acquiring skills and advancing the story helps). At that point, I put the game down forever and haven't picked it up again since. And, because I bought the Xbox version of the game, I can't even mod the game to get rid of the auto-scaling "feature". I'd cry if GW did something that lame, but I think they're smarter than that.

Oh, and BTW, people seem to be making a lot out of level numbers. Remember, that level 100 is just a number. It means absolutely nothing by itself!!! It's entirely dependent upon what sort of character power is indicated by this number, and how many hours of gameplay are required to reach said level. Many seem to be making the assumption that level 20 will mean the exact same thing in GW1 as in GW2 (and extrapolating from there), but this may not be the case at all.

3 FoWs and 13 crystalline? They must have been EBAYers.

I am actually fairly neutral about the level limit thing, so long as there is a limit and they don't scale the mobs. As far as the world being half zoned and half constant, I am very happy. When I first started playing GW that's one of the first things I thought about.

Actually, with UAS PvP sounds infinitely better. I hope that they don't ruin it by making items better in PvE though.

Starting from zero is going to be the best thing about a GW2.
I sure hope there will be a beginner weapon that looks just like the most elitist weapon in GW2 too, like that crystalline presearing sword.

LMAO, so true! As usual, people will find fault in anything, even if it's conflicting.

Im also pretty sure of that

And by the way, (I hate to say it) but take a look at WoW, they managed to create quests for 70 levels, dont you think ANet will be able to create quests for 100 levels then??

You can remove level cap in GW right now and nothing will happens. Just convert the points you win everytime you regain level 20 to levels, and you could be level 1.000 without overpower at all (no stats increased of course) that way you can show your experience to people: OMG! level 225! (even being exactly as level 20)

I think, in my opinion, the "no level cap" thing of Anet means there'll be no lvl in GW 2, only a bar left like xp bar now but actually has no lvl defination there, a bar to measure how strong we will have been improving, for example, the more the bar is filled, the more power you have, just like in reality, you dont have any level, and actually has no lvl for the game, and thus there wouldn't been any grinding. Hope that could be it, do u agree?

Why do people assume that Gw2 will be just like Guildwars and have a linear storyline you just go across. It's pretty obvious there going with a open world with storyline not as a major factor. Although I hope that it if its an open world they can have some story line cinemas for like doing special missions and things. I feel that most people on these boards have never played any other mmo besides GW and don't know why the lvl cap would be raised.

Lets just assume for a second GW 2 is an open world similar to yes....WoW cause thats the only other game people know about these days. Picture WoW with a lvl 20 cap.

The thing is that, in my opinion and that of others I have seen posting on the boards, the level 20 cap is what makes GW different to WoW and all the other MMOs. It means that PvP and PvE are less about who has been grinding to the highest levels, but more about the player's skill.

They should cap it at around 60 or so, and definitely not have a no cap limit.... EVER. At like lvl 100 we'd all have like lvl 150 flesh golems running around, one water snare spell would like like 30 seconds, and spell breaker would last forever... Some major balancing would be needed if the cap is raised.
